How to Buy Foreclosures and Tax Deeds in Ohio
with Sgt. Christopher Wimbish, Frankin County Sheriff’s Office.
In real estate investing training, we’re often told that one of the best ways to buy properties is at a foreclosure or tax auction.
But is it?
What are the rules, the realities, and the possibilities in the foreclosure process?
Sgt. Christopher Wimbish knows better than anyone—he deals with sheriff’s sales every day through the Franklin County Sheriff’s office. He’ll discuss:
- What happens before, during, and after a foreclosure auction, and why you should proceed with caution
- How and why properties are chosen for tax LIEN sale (where the debt is sold) vs. tax DEED sale (where the property itself is sold) and where you as an individual investor fit in
- What happens to properties that don’t sell at the tax deed sale (hint: you can buy them later with a minimum bid of $1)
- What YOU need to do to prepare for a sheriff’s sale
And much more

Insurance You Need that You Didn’t Know Existed with Rob Sly
Every experienced investor knows that you need property and liability insurance to protect your business. But did you know that there are other, much more sophisticated insurance products available to help you do things like avoid taxes, insure against the loss of a partner or other key person and even help you start a “family bank”?
Rob Sly has been dealing in these products for years, and as a long-time COREE member, he also understands real estate investors and what you really need to:
- protect your family
- complete your business goals
- Leverage money
Our eyes were opened when we learned about these strategies; yours will be, too.
